Knottingley Library relocating in September.

Knottingley Library will be relocating to Knottingley Sports Centre in September.

The library will close to the public for four days from 2 September as it will be relocating to a newly refurbished room within Knottingley Sports Centre.

The library will reopen at its new location, only a few metres away from the current library, on Friday 6 September at 9am, and the staff are looking forward to welcoming all customers, old and new.

The new library has been redecorated, with new carpeting, new shelving, furniture and a brand new layout. It will also see an increase in opening hours to the public and will be open:

Mon 2pm – 7pm

Tues 9am – 7pm

Wed 9am – 7pm

Thurs 9am – 1pm

Fri 9am – 7pm

Sat 9am – 1:30pm

To cover the four-day gap in service the mobile library will make an additional stop on Monday 2 September between 3pm and 5pm, and it will be parked at the back of the Knottingley Sports Centre.

Computer access will still be available at any other Council libraries, the nearest libraries to Knottingley are Airedale and Pontefract libraries.

We apologise for any disruption the temporary closure will cause, but hope all users to the library will appreciate the improved facilities when it reopens.

  1. I’m trying to find out when Knottingley Library closed and relocated. You don’t give the year and I can’t remember.
    Thankyou.

Hi Ann, Thanks for getting in touch. It was September 2013 when Knottingley library reopened in its new location, it closed at the old location in July the same year.

  2. Thankyou so much. It’s just that I’ve done an illustrated plan of Knottingley showing various buildings etc. in watercolour (I’m only an amateur painter) for a family member, and I’m writing bits of info underneath some of the buildings. I did one about 13 years ago for Kellington. Thanks again.
